Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Specialist

This is a hybrid role that requires 3 days in the office and 2 days remote. As a Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Specialist at VCU Health, you will be a quality professional who supports data-driven initiatives to achieve clinical excellence at the system, service line, and care site level.
Key Responsibilities- Support the Integration of Safety and Quality: Assist in implementing processes for engagement and teamwork, support the creation of learning opportunities to advance the organization, and communicate effectively in multiple venues via multiple routes.
- Facilitate Improvement Initiatives: Utilize performance and process improvement tools, implement change management methodology, and employ project management tactics.
- Collect and Present Data: Accurately and completely collect and enter data in designated applications, present data and other information clearly, and demonstrate ability to use computer applications and databases.
- Cultivate a Safe Healthcare Environment: Support cause analyses of any format, apply high-reliability principles to improvement initiatives, and promote psychological safety through transparency of data and information.
- Support the Evaluation and Improvement of Healthcare Processes: Support the integration of population health management strategies into initiatives, apply a holistic approach to improvement, and collaborate to improve care processes and transitions.
- Education: Associate degree in Business, Management, or related field from an accredited program.
- Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of work experience in the healthcare environment, including clinical processes, collecting, organizing, and presenting data, and developing and making presentations.
- Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience working in a quality department, process mapping using mapping/flowcharting software, basic knowledge of patient safety, quality improvement, or project management processes/tools, and experience coordinating/assisting with complex, multi-stakeholder projects in a matrixed environment.
This role requires periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads, general office environment, and prolonged periods of working alone. May be required to car travel to off-site locations occasionally.
