Position Overview
The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a qualified individual to fill the role of Quality and Safety Group Manager. This position is pivotal in ensuring that our laboratory operations meet the highest standards of quality and safety, supporting our mission to provide exceptional laboratory services to our community.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a dedicated team of professionals in managing the laboratory's Quality Management and Safety Programs.
- Provide expert guidance and support to staff regarding clinical, environmental, and food testing, ensuring compliance with established quality and safety protocols.
- Oversee adherence to local, state, and federal regulatory standards, including the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) and ISO17025.
- Conduct thorough internal and external audits to assess quality and safety practices, ensuring continuous improvement.
- Analyze quality and safety data to identify trends and recommend corrective actions to enhance laboratory operations.
- Facilitate communication among staff to share best practices, updates on policies, and address any concerns related to quality and safety.
- Collaborate with the Laboratory Systems Improvement and Training team to develop and implement high-quality training programs.

Minimum Qualifications

- Experience in leading diverse teams and demonstrating effective leadership skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Additional Considerations
- Experience with federal regulatory standards, including CLIA and ISO17025.
- Familiarity with high-complexity public health laboratories.
- Proficiency in electronic document management systems and data analysis.
