About the Role

Suffolk Construction is seeking a highly skilled General Superintendent to lead our Mission Critical team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for overseeing the execution of complex construction projects, ensuring timely completion, and delivering exceptional results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor project progress, ensuring conformance with schedules, quality standards, and company procedures.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, and stakeholders.
  • Recruit, mentor, and train a team of superintendents, assistant superintendents, and field engineers.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to field staff on materials, sequencing, scheduling, personnel, and construction methods.
  • Act as an advocate for Field Operations and actively participate in business development.
Pre-Construction and Estimating
  • Participate in sales presentations and pre-construction services.
  • Review projects for constructability, develop a plan for construction, and prepare a summary baseline schedule.
  • Confirm baseline schedules meet project delivery requirements and create site access and staging/sequencing plans.
  • Provide input on budgets and determine field staff requirements.
Construction
  • Implement Suffolk policies and procedures, including field staff assignments and performance evaluations.
  • Conduct weekly site visits to evaluate conditions, safety, and general presentation.
  • Ensure field personnel perform to established standards and oversee the development of baseline schedules.
  • Provide leadership in the monthly update and narrative process and confirm workmanship and materials conform to plans and specifications.
Client Relationships and Meeting Management
  • Attend scheduled meetings to monitor and manage projects.
  • Maintain continuous client contact to gauge performance perceptions and communicate relevant information to project teams.
  • Foster and maintain effective working relationships with team members.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
  • Minimum 15 years of general contracting experience.
  • Applicable area licenses.
  • Strong business judgment, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent diplomatic and communication skills.
