The Role

The Assistant Project Manager works closely with the Project Manager to run the day-to-day project management operations on the job. Key responsibilities include:

  • Logging and tracking contracts and purchase orders
  • Using experience and judgment to price, approve, and/or reject project change orders, submittals, and respond to requests for information
  • Logging, tracking, and reviewing shop drawings and submittals and responding to requests for information
  • Requesting insurance certificates from subcontractors to review for compliance with the company's insurance requirements
  • Creating and updating vendor and subcontractor contact logs
  • Prising and creating proposed change orders
  • Submitting, tracking response, and issuing requests for information
  • Managing the building permit process and resolving any issues related thereto
  • Planning revision submissions to municipalities
  • Working with company attorneys on contracts, insurance certificates, insurance discrepancies, and contract modifications
  • Acting as a liaison with subcontractors to resolve any disputes, questions, or issues related to subcontractor's work and progress
  • Assisting with project schedule narratives
  • Taking weekly video and distributing to general manager
  • Creating weekly meeting minutes - owner's and subcontractors meetings
  • Setting up coordination meetings with subcontractors
  • Distributing revised drawings to subcontractors
  • Using best judgment, writing up descriptions for purchase orders and subcontract requests
  • Responsible for obtaining and tracking subcontractor warranty certificates
  • Responsible for creating close-out manuals
  • Conducting training for OSHA 10 or 30 Hour, HAZWOPER, and other safety-related topics
Qualifications

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual with a bachelor's degree in an applicable discipline and 2+ years of related experience or completion of Suffolk's Career Start Program as a project engineer or project engineer with another firm. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to manage and embrace change, respond and adapt to new processes, and new ways of looking at old problems. Additionally, the candidate must possess Suffolk's core values: passion, integrity, hard work, professionalism, and caring.

Working Conditions

The employee will spend their time in an office environment with a quiet to moderate noise level. Job site walking is also required.
