About the Role:
Cocoon House is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Care Specialist to join our team at our Transitional Living Program in Everett. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and supportive environment for teens in our care, promoting positive interaction, and helping them develop essential life skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build Strong Relationships: Establish and maintain positive relationships with youth, staff, and community partners to ensure a collaborative and supportive environment.
- Provide Life Skills Training: Teach and model healthy life skills, social skills, and other enrichment activities to help youth achieve their full potential.
- Assess and Respond to Emergencies: Assess emergency situations, gather relevant information, and provide proper support to ensure the safety and well-being of youth.
- Document and Record Keeping: Process intakes and exits for youth, provide orientation to incoming youth, and maintain accurate records for proper documentation.
- Collaborate with Case Managers: Partner with case managers to support youth case plans, communicate with fellow staff, and maintain appropriate logs and forms.
- Supervise and Support Youth: Supervise youth in the program, ensure safety, and hold youth accountable to policies, guidelines, and rules.
- Household Management: Assist with household tasks, maintain cleanliness of facilities, and provide meals, including grocery shopping, planning, and cooking.
- Transportation and Appointments: Arrange appointments, transport youth to appointments as needed, and communicate with other providers to ensure youth follow through with commitments.
- Enrichment Activities: Participate in enrichment activities programming and planning with fellow staff to provide a well-rounded experience for youth.
Requirements:
- Education: High school diploma/GED or high school equivalency.
- Experience: 6 months minimum of experience working with youth.
- Certifications and Clearances: DCYF background clearance, acceptable driver's abstract, and valid driver's license.
- Physical Demands: Ability to effectively communicate, lift up to 50 lbs, and run up and down stairs in case of emergency.
