Job Title: Overnight Residential Youth Counselor

Cocoon House is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Overnight Residential Youth Counselor to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will provide a safe and supportive environment for teens in our care, promoting positive interaction, life skills, and social skills.

Job Summary:

The Overnight Residential Youth Counselor will be responsible for:

  • Building supportive relationships with youth and staff
  • Maintaining and modeling healthy and safe boundaries
  • Assessing emergency situations and providing proper support
  • Following mandating reporting and licensing policies and procedures
  • De-escalating youth in crises and utilizing anti-racist, inclusive, equity-based, and trauma-informed care
Responsibilities:

The Overnight Residential Youth Counselor will:

  • Process intakes and exits for youth, provide orientation, and enter required data
  • Partner with case managers to support youth case plans and interact with staff
  • Supervise youth in the program, ensuring safety and holding them accountable to policies and guidelines
  • Assist with household tasks, maintain cleanliness, and provide meals
  • Arrange appointments, fill prescriptions, and dispense medication
  • Communicate with other providers and respond to community calls and referrals
  • Participate in enrichment activities programming and planning
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 6 months of experience working with youth
  • DCYF background clearance
  • An acceptable driver's abstract with no more than 2 violations within the last 3 years
  • A valid driver's license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation
