Job Overview

The Process Engineer plays a crucial role in troubleshooting and identifying failures while resolving issues across multiple automated assembly lines, as well as various injection molding and metal processing systems.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to: Business Unit Manager

  • Conduct comprehensive studies on machine and process capabilities, implementing enhancements as necessary.
  • Assist in the creation and review of FMEA, APQP, and Control Plans.
  • Propose investment opportunities and provide informed recommendations.
  • Oversee complex commissioning and acceptance testing of machinery and equipment.
  • Evaluate and select suppliers for indirect materials, coordinating requests and offers.
  • Establish process parameters and ensure compliance.
  • Develop and modify work instructions as needed.
  • Design automation concepts and support process development for new initiatives, collaborating with Industrial Engineering for implementation.
  • Prepare, assess, and coordinate intricate solution concepts effectively.
  • Conduct detailed examinations on the functionality, layout, and design of machines and electrical installations, selecting or modifying components as required.
  • Develop and implement smaller complex process solutions.
  • Revise and execute modifications to existing processes and functions.
  • Commission processes and measurement systems.
  • Program machine controls and instruct robotic systems.
  • Ensure the safety of machinery and installations, conducting preliminary tests for feasibility and specifications.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities.
  • Develop and execute process optimization measures, initiating implementation of new partial process solutions and modifications to manufacturing processes.
  • Participate in 8D problem-solving activities, analyzing complex alarms and addressing root causes.
  • Maintain an up-to-date automation maintenance history and facilitate information exchange.
  • Provide support across business units for complex process changes and issues.
  • Determine root causes for complaints and formulate corrective actions.
  • Plan spare parts requirements and initiate orders.
  • Train employees on installations, providing instruction and creating training materials.
  • Supervise interns and students.
  • Ensure adherence to guidelines and regulations, including environmental standards, compliance, and workplace safety.
  • Initiate process improvement projects utilizing data-driven and statistically designed experiments to enhance quality, reduce costs, improve safety, and increase profitability.
  • Assist the quality department in verifying process parameters and monitoring the functionality of quality-related devices.
  • Be available for on-call support as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.

Skills:

  • Experience in manufacturing and IATF standards is preferred.
  • Strong technical writing and logical problem-solving abilities.
  • Project management experience with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficient in both metric and imperial measurement systems.
  • Knowledge of databases and connections between operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT), as well as high-voltage electrical installations.
  • Thorough understanding of statistical methods.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn.
  • Capable of interpreting schematics (electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
