Heavy Equipment Technician
Position Overview

The Heavy Equipment Technician is accountable for the routine upkeep and repair of company machinery, which includes both preventative maintenance and extensive repairs on trucks and trailers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct maintenance, preventative maintenance, and repairs on company machinery and tools, focusing on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
  • Perform periodic inspections to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Execute additional tasks or projects as directed by the Fleet Maintenance Manager.
  • Provide assistance during emergency breakdowns through road service calls.
  • Complete necessary documentation related to vehicle repairs and parts usage.
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant safety protocols and regulations.
  • Undertake other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Valid and unrestricted Driver's License
  • Possession of a Toolbox
  • Preferred: Automotive/Mechanical Trade or Vocational certification, ASE certification
  • Preferred: Minimum of 1 year of Technician experience
  • New and Recent Diesel Mechanics are encouraged to apply, provided they have graduated from an Accredited Diesel Mechanic program.

Physical Requirements:

The role requires the ability to enter and exit the driver's compartment of the vehicle using standard footholds and handholds. Candidates must be capable of lifting and moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds, as well as bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, and crawling to inspect or clean vehicles.

While fulfilling job responsibilities, employees must be able to communicate effectively and may be required to sit and use their hands for tasks such as typing.

Employees may also need to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb, or balance, and may occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Close vision is necessary for this position.
