Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Direction: Direct and manage the PMO, establishing the strategic vision and ensuring it aligns with the organization’s objectives. Ensure the PMO supports the IT strategies effectively.
  • Policy Formulation: Create and implement PMO policies, procedures, and methodologies to guarantee efficient project execution. Establish standardized project management practices and templates.
  • Project Management: Supervise the execution of multiple concurrent IT projects, ensuring proper resource distribution, risk assessment, and quality assurance. Monitor project advancement and modify plans as necessary to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with senior leadership, business stakeholders, and project managers to prioritize and implement projects that align with strategic goals. Facilitate effective communication between project teams and stakeholders while ensuring adherence to relevant policies and standards.
  • Team Development: Provide leadership and mentorship to project managers and teams, encouraging professional growth and the adoption of best practices. Cultivate a collaborative and high-performance environment within the PMO.
  • Performance Evaluation: Conduct regular assessments and audits of projects to ensure compliance with PMO standards and identify areas for improvement. Implement corrective measures as needed.
  • Financial Oversight: Oversee the PMO budget, ensuring optimal resource allocation and cost-effectiveness. Monitor financial performance and implement cost-reduction strategies when feasible.
  • Reporting: Provide updates on project status, challenges, and risks to senior management and other key stakeholders. Prepare and deliver comprehensive reports to the executive team.
Required Skills

Demonstrated expertise in IT project and program management with a proven history of delivering complex projects on time and within budget. In-depth understanding of project management methodologies and standards (e.g., EVM, PMBOK, PMI, Agile, Lean). Exceptional leadership and team management capabilities with the ability to motivate and drive high-performance teams. Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, including scope, issues, risk, and corrective action management. Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities, with the capacity to influence at all organizational levels. Proficiency in project management software and tools, such as Microsoft Project, JIRA, or similar.

Preferred Skills

Advanced understanding of change management principles and practices. Experience in a governmental or public sector context. Familiarity with IT governance frameworks and compliance standards. Strong analytical and financial management skills, with the ability to effectively manage budgets and resources.

Experience Requirements

10-15 years of experience in IT and business/industry roles, showcasing increasing levels of responsibility and leadership. At least 7 years of leadership experience in a managerial capacity, with 5 years dedicated to managing significant and complex IT projects. Proven experience in establishing and managing a PMO within a large enterprise environment, focusing on strategic alignment and performance enhancement.

Preferred Experience

Extensive experience in the public sector or large-scale government projects, with a comprehensive understanding of the unique challenges and requirements of such environments. Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and other large-scale IT implementations.

Educational Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field from an accredited institution. Project Management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) is required.
