Patient Service Representative

Scripps Health is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Patient Service Representative to join our team at Scripps Clinic Del Mar. As a key member of our administrative staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring a positive experience for our patients and providers.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for scheduling patient appointments, assisting with registration and check-in processes, and responding to customer inquiries.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Interacting with patients and providers to gather information for accurate registration
- Assigning medical record numbers, scheduling appointments, and collecting point-of-service payments
- Responding to customer billing and payment inquiries
- Effectively managing the check-out process, including identification verification and demographic and insurance information
- Scheduling and confirming appointments, and entering insurance information
- Initiating and validating referrals/authorizations
We offer a benefitted full-time position with a Monday-Friday schedule from 8am-5pm. If you are a motivated and detail-oriented individual with excellent communication skills, we encourage you to apply.
Required Qualifications:
- Proficiency in computer applications and excellent mathematical skills
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Strong organizational and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and solve problems
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in customer service or healthcare/medical office environment
- Previous experience with EPIC
- Able to adapt, prioritize, and meet deadlines
- Knowledge of medical terminology, commercial and government health insurance, and billing guidelines
