Position Summary:
We are seeking a Safety Training Specialist to become an integral part of our organization. This role is essential in ensuring that all programs adhere to the relevant occupational health and safety regulations at the local, state, and federal levels, while also safeguarding the well-being of all staff and volunteers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Focus on reducing or eliminating workplace incidents by coaching and training employees and volunteers, emphasizing positive behaviors and practices. In the event of an incident, the specialist will conduct a thorough safety review, documenting findings and providing recommendations to avert future occurrences.
- Conduct safety inspections at new construction sites, repair locations, and retail operations, ensuring compliance with safety standards. Additionally, manage the supply of personal protective equipment (PPE) and guarantee its proper usage among all personnel.
- Ensure adherence to all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines, including maintaining accurate records and fulfilling all state and federal safety documentation requirements.
- Collaborate with leadership and team members to assess, revise, and implement safety policies and procedures throughout the organization.
- Lead the Safety Committee, organizing regular safety meetings and overseeing the execution of identified safety initiatives.
- Work alongside the HR Manager to oversee workers' compensation documentation and reporting.
- Provide training to team members on safe vehicle operation and usage.
- Develop and implement safety programs and training for all affiliate team members, covering topics mandated by OSHA, vehicle safety, and forklift operation.
- Ensure that safety protocols and procedures align with the recommendations from Habitat for Humanity International.
- Assist in addressing facility-related safety concerns as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Experience in the field of occupational safety and health is essential.
- A minimum of two years of experience in comprehensive workplace safety and compliance programs is preferred.
- Knowledge of the latest local and state regulations and guideline updates.
- Strong understanding of state and local laws and ordinances.
- Ability to mentor others on safety and health-related matters.
- Demonstrated commitment to personal safety practices, serving as a model for others.
- A valid driver's license is required, as travel within the service area is necessary.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in computer applications.
- Ability to convey clear and concise information using appropriate communication methods.
- Commitment to treating all individuals in a fair, lawful, and ethical manner, recognizing the diverse contributions of all team members.
