Job Summary

The YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Early Learning Assistant Teacher to join our team. As a key member of our early childhood education program, you will play a vital role in creating a nurturing and engaging environment for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in planning and implementing daily lesson plans, ensuring a stimulating and educational experience for children.
  • Engage with children in the classroom, fostering a sense of community and promoting social-emotional growth.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, keeping them informed about their child's daily activities and progress.
  • Prepare materials and resources for daily activities, maintaining a safe and organized classroom environment.
  • Supervise children at all times, ensuring their physical and emotional well-being.
  • Collaborate with the Lead Teacher to plan and implement parent-teacher conferences, addressing any concerns or questions parents may have.
  • Communicate efficiently with the classroom teaching team, ensuring a cohesive and supportive work environment.
Requirements
  • Credential in Infant Toddler CDA or Associate/Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education.
  • Three to six months of childcare-related experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Ability to interact with people of all ethnic backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles.
  • Desire to work with and care for infants, toddlers, and preschool children.
  • Working knowledge of computers and experience with various software applications.
