ROLE SUMMARY:

The Early Learning Assistant Teacher will support the planning, development, and execution of classroom activities. This position requires direct leadership within the program and may involve early morning responsibilities. Flexible availability, Monday through Friday, is required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the Lead Teacher in crafting and delivering daily lesson plans.
  • Engage actively with children in the classroom setting.
  • Facilitate daily communication with parents.
  • Prepare materials for daily activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance and arrival/departure times.
  • Supervise children effectively.
  • Support the Site Supervisor during parent-teacher conferences as needed.
  • Communicate efficiently with the classroom teaching team.

Perform any additional tasks necessary for the effective operation of the YMCA of Greater Grand Rapids.

COMPENSATION:

$18.28 per hour; Non-Exempt, Part-Time (up to 25 hours per week).

QUALIFICATIONS:

Preferred qualifications include an Associate's degree or CDA; three to six months of childcare-related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. The ability to interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds and a passion for working with infants, toddlers, and preschool children are essential.

CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Blood Borne Pathogen training.
  • CPR Certification required within the first 60 days.
  • First Aid Certification required within the first 60 days.
  • State of Michigan criminal background clearance.
  • Fingerprinting.
  • DHS clearance.
  • Negative T.B. skin test.
  • Documentation of physical examination.

Minimal local travel within the state; occasional out-of-state travel may be required for training or educational conferences.
