ROLE SUMMARY:

The Early Learning Assistant Teacher will support the planning and execution of educational activities for early childhood programs. This position involves direct interaction with children and may require early morning availability.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the Site Coordinator in developing and implementing daily lesson plans.
  • Engage actively with children during classroom activities.
  • Facilitate communication with parents on a daily basis.
  • Prepare necessary materials for daily lessons.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance and schedules.
  • Supervise children to ensure a safe learning environment.
  • Support the Site Supervisor during parent-teacher meetings as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with the teaching team.

Perform additional duties as required to ensure the smooth operation of the YMCA.

COMPENSATION:

$18.28 per hour; Part-Time, Non-Exempt (up to 25 hours/week).

QUALIFICATIONS:

Preferred qualifications include an Associate's degree or CDA, along with three to six months of relevant childcare experience or a suitable combination of education and experience. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to interact positively with diverse populations and a passion for working with young children.

CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Blood Borne Pathogen training.
  • CPR Certification within the first 60 days.
  • First Aid Certification within the first 60 days.
  • State of Michigan criminal background clearance.
  • Fingerprinting.
  • DHS clearance.
  • Negative T.B. skin test.
  • Documentation of physical examination.
