Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Residential Instructor to join our team at Alternative Services - Connecticut, Inc. As a Residential Instructor, you will play a vital role in providing daily support and supervision to individuals with developmental disabilities, ensuring their safety, well-being, and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and implement consumer behavior management programs, documenting all activities and incidents in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Provide programmatic and statistical reports as required, ensuring compliance with licensing regulations and DDS contracts.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and healthy environment, conducting regular sanitation and safety inspections, and making minor repairs as needed.
  • Develop and implement individualized plans to promote normalization and person-centered planning principles, working closely with guardians, parents, and other stakeholders.
  • Assist with daily living activities, including meal preparation, shopping, and transportation, ensuring the highest level of care and support.
  • Participate in in-service training, seminars, and other professional development opportunities, staying up-to-date on best practices and industry developments.
  • Collaborate with the Residential Manager and other team members to ensure seamless communication and coordination of services.
  • Document all activities, incidents, and consumer progress, maintaining accurate and detailed records.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; minimum two years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or dual diagnosis.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to obtain and maintain certifications in CPR, First Aid, PMT, and DDS State Medication Administration.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds, transfer, and physically intervene as required.
Accountability

The Residential Instructor is directly accountable to the Residential Manager or designated supervisor.
