ROLE SUMMARY
The Intake Coordinator plays a vital role in fulfilling the mission of The Council on Recovery by delivering exceptional support, guidance, and referrals to individuals facing challenges related to substance use, as well as their families and community members. This position is responsible for evaluating and prioritizing clients who reach out for assistance, whether through phone, email, or in-person inquiries.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Professionally manage all incoming calls and welcome clients with respect and dignity.
- Provide comprehensive services to clients seeking help, including:
- Assessing and evaluating their needs for assistance.
- Offering supportive advocacy and peer support.
- Conducting crisis intervention when necessary.
- Delivering relevant information and suitable referrals, ensuring smooth transitions when possible.
- Assisting clients with safety planning and exploring available options.
- Educating potential clients on substance use and related matters tailored to their specific circumstances.
- For clients engaging with Council services: scheduling appointments, clarifying fee structures, and conducting intake/orientation sessions.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of The Council on Recovery's services and activities, as well as local and national treatment providers, substance abuse service agencies, and support groups.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's Degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field is preferred.
- Bachelor's Degree is required.
- Relevant licensure is a plus.
- Bilingual capabilities are preferred.
- Experience in substance abuse evaluation, counseling, and case management is essential.
- Familiarity with ASAM and DSM 5 diagnostic criteria for substance use and mental health disorders.
- Proficient knowledge of community resources and experience in building relationships.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, demonstrating empathy and unconditional positive regard.
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational abilities.
- Proven experience working independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Proficient in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience in a call-center environment is advantageous.
