Role Summary:

The Financial Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily functions of the accounting department, including accounts payable, asset management, and financial reporting. This role involves performing various cost accounting tasks, analyzing financial records, assisting in budget preparation, and ensuring the completion of financial statements for the Foundation, Medical Service Corporation, and Hospital. The supervisor will also coordinate the annual financial audit with external auditors and ensure timely preparation of corporate tax returns.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide timely audit schedules and balance sheet reconciliations to external auditors.
  2. Prepare federal and state tax returns for the organization and its subsidiaries.
  3. Exhibit strong leadership skills while integrating guest relation standards into daily operations.
  4. Analyze the organization’s income, expenses, and asset values, comparing them to previous periods, and recommend strategies for cost reduction and revenue enhancement.
  5. Plan, direct, and supervise accounting functions and activities.
  6. Evaluate existing procedures to enhance cost efficiency and improve workflow.
  7. Assist the Accounting Director in the development of annual operating and capital budgets.
  8. Perform additional duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in a hospital accounting environment as a staff accountant, with some familiarity with computerized financial systems in accounts payable and asset management.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to work under pressure with multiple deadlines. Must be attentive to details in varying noise levels and may need to work beyond standard hours to achieve objectives. The role requires prolonged sitting and occasional lifting of boxes.

Work Environment:

Office setting, protected from outdoor elements, shared with colleagues, which may lead to a cramped working environment. Must be able to manage distractions from variable noise levels and handle numerous customer inquiries on a daily basis.
