Position: Therapeutic Community Counselor

MAB Community Services is seeking dedicated, innovative, and mission-oriented professionals to support young adults in a pioneering community-based residential initiative. This program is designed to create a therapeutic environment where young adults can cultivate essential skills for successful community living, including independent living, self-management, interdependence, and self-determination.

The Therapeutic Community Counselor plays a crucial role in providing direct assistance to residents throughout their daily activities, focusing on establishing and nurturing therapeutic relationships, ensuring safety, and facilitating skill enhancement. This position is collaborative and team-focused, offering opportunities to work alongside fellow counselors, a social worker, an occupational therapist, and an LPN. Additionally, the counselor will foster supportive connections with community partners and families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with neurodivergent young adults facing complex mental health challenges.
  • Utilize strong interpersonal and communication skills to build healthy relationships with participants, team members, families, and external partners.
  • Contribute as a team player, providing and receiving constructive feedback, employing creative problem-solving techniques, and inspiring participants.
  • Deliver direct support and guidance to residents, promoting their personal growth and skill development.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience (2+ years in a residential setting preferred).
  • Proficiency with technology and willingness to learn reporting software.
  • Valid driver's license and capability to operate program vehicles for participant transportation.
  • Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, and driving, with the ability to lift and carry lightweight to moderately heavy items.
  • Availability for a full-time role with a flexible schedule.
