Position Overview
This role is situated within the Field Operations Directorate, specifically at the District 41 Boise ID Field Office.

As an Immigration Services Assistant (OA), your primary function will be to facilitate the Adjudication Services Process by providing essential support to Immigration Services Officers. Your responsibilities will include managing files, databases, and correspondence, conducting security checks, researching and analyzing data, preparing reports, and delivering direct service to clients.

Key Responsibilities
The following duties are applicable at the full performance level. At developmental grades, tasks will be of a more limited scope, requiring less independence and complexity:
  • Pre-screening various applications and submissions from USCIS customers to ensure accuracy and completeness of initial supporting documentation.
  • Coordinating applicant appointments and maintaining direct communication with applicants and their representatives.
  • Conducting analyses on files, reports, and information systems to update records and uphold data integrity.
  • Generating highly sensitive and secure documents.
  • Identifying incoming applications that necessitate expedited service or requests for fee waivers and directing them through the appropriate workflow.
  • Editing and creating office documents and correspondence utilizing office automation software, including graphics, databases, spreadsheets, and word processing.
  • Overseeing individual case files, tracking the movement of files to different locations, performing audits, and serving as a records liaison with other agencies.
Employment Conditions
To be eligible for this position, candidates must meet the following conditions:
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. National.
  • Successfully pass a Background Investigation, including financial disclosure.
  • Pass a drug screening.
  • Submit a resume and supporting documentation.
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered with the Selective Service.
  • This position is part of the bargaining unit.
Residency Requirement
Applicants not currently employed by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services must have resided in the United States for three of the last five years prior to applying for this position, or have worked for the U.S. Government overseas in a Federal or Military capacity, or been a dependent of a U.S. Federal or Military employee serving overseas.
Typing Certification
Applicants must demonstrate the ability to type at least 40 words per minute, which can be self-certified by submitting a statement confirming this speed.
General Office Skills
Knowledge of general office automation software, practices, and procedures is required.
Physical Demands
Applicants must be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.
