Position Overview

Peraton is in search of a seasoned Electrical Engineer to provide support for our client in the Quantico, Virginia region. With over three decades of experience, we have collaborated with clients to enhance vital missions worldwide, delivering innovative and dependable solutions for Intelligence, Defense, and Federal Civilian Agencies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess the reliability of materials, properties, and methodologies utilized in production; conceptualize, design, and develop electronic components, integrated circuits, mechanical systems, equipment, packaging, optical systems, and/or DSP systems.
  • Under general supervision, design and develop equipment, processes, and systems that encompass data networks, communications, and display technologies.
  • Evaluate equipment specifications and process requirements to formulate a practical design.
  • Determine feasibility from both technical and economic viewpoints.
  • Collaborate and consult with research engineers or scientists and client representatives to address design challenges.
  • Create and maintain technical procedures, documentation, and manuals. Compile and analyze operational data and direct tests to establish standards for new designs or modifications to existing equipment, systems, or processes.
  • Investigate, identify, and exploit hardware vulnerabilities.
  • Conduct hardware failure analysis, including researching methods to repair damaged hardware components for the purpose of information extraction.
  • Execute advanced hardware exploitation to bypass security on hardware, utilizing hardware-based encryption, locking mechanisms, or other security measures.
  • Analyze hardware and software core elements to effectively organize raw binary structured data retrieved from the hardware level.
  • Perform analysis of wired and wireless network traffic using tools such as Wireshark or other compatible protocol analyzers.
Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, accompanied by 7 years of experience in reverse engineering electronic circuits. Four years of additional software development experience may substitute for the degree.
  • An active Top Secret US government security clearance is mandatory.
  • Seven years of experience in hardware design and layout.
  • Seven years of experience in designing, developing, and testing printed circuit board (PCB) projects.
  • Five years of experience with system-level buses and interfaces (I2C, USB, JTAG, HID, etc.).
  • Six years of experience with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, hardware debuggers, and other tools for monitoring and analyzing hardware.
  • Three years of experience in low-level processor programming and configuration (assembly level).
  • Three years of experience in performing advanced hardware exploitation to bypass security on hardware, utilizing hardware-based encryption, locking mechanisms, or other security measures.
  • Three years of experience in embedded software development with platform architectures (MIPS, ARM, x86, or other specific microcontroller or microprocessor families).

Compensation Range

$146,000 - $234,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
