We are seeking a skilled and knowledgeable Packaging Process Engineer to contribute to our innovative manufacturing operations. This role will focus on overseeing the design, development, and engineering processes related to packaging for both new and existing products, ensuring that customer expectations are met throughout the entire lifecycle from concept to production.


Key Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering or a related field is essential.
  • A minimum of three to five years of experience in consumer product packaging development and design is required.
  • Proficient in CAD and packaging design software such as ArtiosCAD, along with a strong command of MS Office Suite, Excel, Access, Project, and ERP Systems.

Experience in supporting high-speed manufacturing packaging automation equipment is crucial, including training, troubleshooting, and setup reduction. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency across all facets of Packaging Engineering, encompassing knowledge of flexible, corrugated, and folding carton manufacturing, as well as plastics thermoforming, plastic films, laminations, pre-formed bags, pressure-sensitive labels, and printing techniques.

Additionally, the candidate should be adept in utilizing measuring devices and techniques for material analysis, shipping, and test simulations, with the ability to apply, analyze, and enhance control processes.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development, testing, and evaluation of various packaging systems to ensure design compatibility, machinability, and efficient shipping distribution.
  • Collaborate with teams in Marketing, Quality Assurance, Product Development, and Manufacturing to establish procedures for qualifying new packaging designs, focusing on product compatibility, functionality, performance, and cost-effective manufacturing.
  • Gather and apply feedback from both internal and external stakeholders to address customer needs and anticipate future expectations.
  • Work closely with various departments to optimize package design and equipment requirements, ensuring effective development efforts.
  • Support the setup and troubleshooting of packaging automation equipment, including training on good run settings.

Prototyping and Documentation:

Prototype packaging using suitable materials and maintain comprehensive documentation for specifications that support packaging components, pallet configurations, and interdepartmental processes.

Identify materials for primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging components, assisting in the development of Bills of Materials and conducting cost analyses.

Initiate projects aimed at cost reduction and efficiency improvements through packaging redesign and component consolidation.

Engage with sales and marketing teams to address packaging or damage issues, and interview suppliers to select appropriate materials in collaboration with purchasing managers.

Stay informed on emerging trends in packaging technologies and regulatory requirements by participating in professional activities and events.
