Clark Nexsen is in search of a Lead Industrial Engineering Specialist who will deliver comprehensive industrial and mechanical engineering solutions for a variety of process projects, ranging from small to large scale, in sectors such as minerals, fertilizers, pulp and paper, and petrochemicals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute diverse engineering design tasks, including conceptual studies, process flow diagrams, P&IDs, mass balance calculations, equipment and instrument selection, and general arrangements for bulk material handling and process piping.
  • Oversee project coordination and collaborate with design and project managers to ensure alignment with client budgets, contractual obligations, and project timelines.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration among multi-disciplinary teams as directed by the Design Manager or Project Engineer.
  • Develop schematic designs, detailed design documents, and construction drawings.
  • Adhere to quality control standards and protocols.
  • Assist during the bidding phase by preparing necessary documentation, attending meetings, and conducting technical bid analyses.
  • Provide support during the construction phase, including on-site representation, responding to RFIs, and reviewing shop drawings.
  • Work independently while also mentoring junior engineers within the Industrial Engineering Department.
  • Contribute technical insights to enhance engineering designs, focusing on value engineering and industry best practices.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by senior management.
  • Utilize engineering techniques to design and assess integrated systems for industrial production, considering factors such as workflow, quality control, and cost analysis.
  • Apply statistical methods to evaluate manufacturing processes and production standards.
  • Design layouts for equipment and materials to optimize efficiency, employing drafting tools and software.
  • Ensure that designs align with organizational goals and production requirements.
  • Handle complex issues with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to junior staff.
  • Engage regularly with senior management as a recognized expert in the field.
Project Management Responsibilities:
  • Maintain organized and clear documentation.
  • Coordinate discipline drawings and resolve system conflicts.
  • Develop project proposals and reports.
  • Monitor project performance against budget and schedule.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure cohesive project delivery.
  • Travel may be required up to 20% of the time.
Qualifications:
  • A degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Chemical, Industrial, or Process Engineering is required.
  • Proficiency in company software for documentation and design, including Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM.
  • 8-12 years of relevant design experience in an industrial or multi-discipline engineering environment is preferred.
  • Professional Engineer licensure in at least one US state is advantageous.
