Position Overview:
A Mechanical Engineer II at Clark Nexsen is tasked with supporting the design, engineering, analysis, equipment selection, and layout of HVAC, plumbing, piping, and other mechanical systems for both commercial and governmental projects.

Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in various facets of mechanical engineering design under the guidance of senior engineers, including:
- Conceptual studies
- Program requirements
- Design analysis and calculations
- Equipment selection and layout
- System selection and layout for building design, upgrades, and retrofits.

- Collaborate with clients and coordinate with design team members to ensure seamless integration of mechanical design with other disciplines.

- Adhere to the firm's quality control standards and implement departmental and company protocols.

- Develop design and analytical skills through:
- Preparation of project programming
- Schematic designs
- Design development and construction documents.

- Provide support during the bidding process, including:
- Preparing addenda and amendments
- Tabulating bids.

- Offer construction phase services such as:
- On-site representation
- Responding to requests for information
- Reviewing shop drawings and preparing record drawings.

Project Responsibilities:
- Execute Engineer or Senior Engineer tasks as assigned.
- Ensure clarity and organization of documents.
- Assist in the preparation of fee proposals for mechanical design work.
- Draft marked-up plans, sections, and details.
- Complete schematic-level plans and details for projects of varying complexity.

- Develop accurate three-dimensional models of mechanical systems using Building Information Modeling (BIM) software when required.

- Address system conflicts through design options and assist with building systems calculations and LEED templates.

- Participate in building code analysis and the development of discipline specifications.

- Coordinate work with other disciplines while adhering to project schedules and budgets.

Qualifications:
- A degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program in Mechanical Engineering or related fields is required.
- EIT Certification is mandatory, with a commitment to pursue Professional Engineer licensure within 48 months of employment.
- Understanding of sustainable design principles and practices, with a desire to achieve LEED AP accreditation is advantageous.

- Additional certifications such as CDT, CCS, or CCCA are encouraged to enhance professional growth.

- Proficiency in current company software for documentation and project management is essential.
- Familiarity with design and production software, particularly REVIT, is highly desirable.

Experience:
- Up to 7 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience, particularly in HVAC system design, including ductwork and piping systems, as well as construction document development.

- A strong understanding of applicable building codes and standards is required.

- Effective presentation skills for diverse audiences.
- Strong communication skills within a team environment.
