Job Overview

The Kitchen Operations Supervisor is responsible for managing kitchen activities by mentoring and training the culinary team, including Line Cooks and other kitchen personnel. This role supports the Head Chef in overseeing food production and staff management. The Supervisor is primarily tasked with efficiently preparing all food orders.

Additionally, the Supervisor ensures that food items are prepared according to production requirements and quality benchmarks while upholding a safe and sanitary working environment.

The Supervisor consistently guarantees quality by adhering to recipe specifications and production standards.

As a role model for the culinary team, the Supervisor is expected to demonstrate exceptional performance and inspire others.

This position plays a crucial role in maintaining adequate inventory levels to meet daily operational needs, recording deliveries, addressing discrepancies, and assisting with storage management.

The Supervisor possesses extensive knowledge of kitchen equipment usage, including but not limited to steamers, ovens, mixers, grills, and dishwashing machinery.


COMPENSATION:

The hourly wage for this position ranges from $28 to $30, influenced by factors such as the applicant's skills, qualifications, relevant degrees and certifications, prior experience, market data, and other pertinent considerations.

Additional compensation may include bonuses or commissions where applicable.

This represents Aramark's good faith estimate of the compensation range for this position at the time of posting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Organizes and assigns daily tasks to kitchen staff, ensuring completion of responsibilities.
  • Trains and instructs staff on job functions, food safety standards, and cooking techniques.
  • Prepares and cooks food according to production guidelines and standardized recipes.
  • Sets up workstations with necessary ingredients and equipment.
  • Prepares ingredients through measuring, weighing, mixing, chopping, and peeling.
  • Utilizes kitchen utensils safely, including knives.
  • Operates cooking equipment such as ovens, stoves, and mixers.
  • Employs various cooking methods for meats, vegetables, and other food items.
  • Presents, garnishes, and portions food in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Stores food properly by adhering to food safety policies.
  • Cleans and sanitizes work areas, equipment, and utensils.
  • Maintains high levels of customer service with a positive demeanor towards guests and coworkers.
  • Follows safety policies and procedures, including food safety and sanitation.
  • Ensures the security of company assets.
  • Develops and maintains work schedules and may prepare production records.
  • Directs kitchen staff, monitors performance, and provides constructive feedback regarding food preparation and timing.
  • Consults with management on employee relations and scheduling matters.
Qualifications

  • Preferred previous supervisory experience in a culinary role.
  • Required experience as a cook or in a related position.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of food preparation principles, cooking methods, and food safety regulations.
  • Current food safety certification is preferred.
  • Basic math and counting skills are essential.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • This role may involve physical demands such as lifting (30-50 lbs), bending, pushing, pulling, and extended periods of walking and standing.
  • Ability to maintain emotional control under stress and resolve interpersonal conflicts.
  • Strong organizational skills are necessary.
  • This position may require uniforms and/or the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
