Role of the Senior Blood Collection Specialist
The Senior Blood Collection Specialist is tasked with the collection and processing of patient specimens, while also assisting with patient flow as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage front desk operations to process incoming lab testing orders.
  • Accurately process labeled specimens in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Perform phlebotomy and collect appropriate specimens from patients as required.
  • Ensure pre-authorizations are completed and obtain necessary consent (ABN) prior to conducting limited coverage tests.
  • Maintain proper documentation as outlined by the quality assurance program, including accessioning logs, equipment records, and checklists.
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned by management.


Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Senior Blood Collection Specialist position will possess the following qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Phlebotomist ASCP certification preferred.
  • A minimum of 1 year of phlebotomy experience is required.
  • Entry and mid-level experience will also be considered.
  • Proficiency in blood draws and comfort with waived testing is essential.
  • Excellent multitasking, communication, and interpersonal skills are necessary.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office, are required.
