Healthcare Collections Specialist

Job Title: LTACH Collector (Contract-to-Hire)
Location: On-site, Plano, TX
Industry: Healthcare/Hospital Collections
Pay: $22 - $26 per hour
About Our Client:
We are partnering with a healthcare organization in need of an LTACH Collector to handle insurance follow-up, denied claims, and reimbursement analysis for inpatient hospital accounts. The role requires strong experience with UB-04 forms, managed Medicaid, and commercial payors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Follow up on inpatient hospital claims with insurance companies, focusing on UB-04 forms.
- Work on appeals using templates, research denied claims, and handle edits/re-bills.
- Analyze claims quickly to determine issues and solutions, sometimes requiring contract review and basic math.
- Work with a volume of 18 claims per day, ensuring reimbursement accuracy and timely resolutions.
- Handle collections, rebilling, correspondence, and problem-solving for account billing errors.
- Review Explanation of Benefits (EOBs), submit re-bills, tracers, and appeals, and make necessary adjustments using appropriate reason codes.
- Verify billing information for both electronic and manual claims submission.
- Ensure follow-up on all claims not processed within the usual claim period.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in hospital collections, with a focus on inpatient claims and UB-04 forms.
- Knowledgeable in denial trends, particularly with commercial and managed Medicaid payors.
- Strong computer skills, including Excel.
- Experience with Wellsky and HMS systems is preferred.
- Must have experience with reimbursement processes and understanding of contract terms.
