Team Overview

The Application Management System (AMS) team is tasked with overseeing the delivery, support, and daily operational management of both production and non-production environments for business applications at Corebridge Financial. The AMS encompasses an IT Portfolio that spans business sectors including Life, Annuities, Institutional Markets, and Group Retirement. Our Agile application engineers work in close collaboration with Development and Infrastructure teams to deliver technology environments and software products from both external vendors and internal development teams across all AMS-supported business functions.

We adopt contemporary Cloud Computing and DevOps principles to provision and onboard new systems, monitor activities, and report on daily operational status, as we believe that business applications should be highly available, perform optimally, and be managed for operational efficiency.

Role Responsibilities

We are looking for candidates who can:

  • Lead, deliver, and support applications across various business functions.
  • Achieve outstanding results and demonstrate problem-solving capabilities across a broad spectrum of application, software, and network-related challenges.
  • Develop a mindset and experience that bridges the gap between operational and developmental tasks, particularly in Java and .Net.
  • Exhibit a passion for engineering enterprise-grade, production-critical systems while striving for expertise in the technologies utilized.
  • Engineer, develop, and maintain scalable, highly reliable, and easily recoverable application environments that enhance and innovate business processes.
  • Advocate for the advantages of virtualized technologies, Cloud Computing, and vendor-based SaaS solutions to optimize team efforts in engineering and operating high-performing application environments.
  • Focus on thoroughly understanding requirements, driven by a commitment to excellence and a desire to find the simplest effective designs and implementations.
  • Employ an operational management approach that leverages automated methods for business applications.

Candidate Profile

  • A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience leading and supporting a variety of applications across business functions, with a proven track record of delivering exceptional results and problem-solving skills.
  • A logical, objective approach to problem-solving, mindful of relevant policies and standards.
  • Hands-on experience managing and supporting enterprise-grade Microsoft Windows and Linux/Unix environments within a managed service model, along with knowledge of multiple server-side platforms including Active Directory, SQL Server, Oracle, SharePoint, Exchange Server, Terminal Services, Citrix, WebSphere, and Tomcat.
  • Familiarity with virtualized environments (e.g., VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V), Public Cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Microsoft Azure), and modern service models for delivering infrastructure and applications (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS).
  • Knowledge of various application architectures (Client-Server, Web, Cloud Native, Distributed/Messaging) and the strategies employed to maintain their availability, performance, security, and recoverability.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Perl, VBScript/WSH, cmd/bat, and Unix sh/ksh/bash, along with software development tools to enhance application support efficiency.
  • Experience utilizing Agile methodologies (Scrum/Lean/Continuous Delivery/SRE) where appropriate to organize work.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or a proven record of experience.
