Job Title: Facilities Maintenance Manager

Join the State of South Carolina team as a Facilities Maintenance Manager, responsible for overseeing the maintenance and upkeep of all physical assets and infrastructure.

Job Summary

The Facilities Maintenance Manager will manage the Facilities Management maintenance department to ensure the effective operation and upkeep of all physical assets and infrastructure. This includes planning, scheduling, and execution of maintenance projects, as well as supervising skilled trades and general maintenance workers to ensure timely and high-quality completion of repairs, maintenance, and construction work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Directs, plans, and supervises the activities of staff engaged in maintenance, general repair or construction activities that involve one or more trades, such as carpentry, electricity, painting, HVAC, and plumbing.
  • Develops and implements a comprehensive maintenance plan for all facilities, including scheduling and coordinating preventive maintenance activities to ensure equipment and systems are in optimal condition.
  • Manages the Energy Management System for the College and implements energy-saving initiatives and recommended upgrades to enhance efficiency.
  • Oversees the operation, maintenance, and repair of all facility equipment, including HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and machinery.
  • Ensures the facilities comply with all relevant safety and environmental regulations, including asbestos abatement programs, water system regulatory compliance, and indoor air quality (IAQ) compliance.
Requirements
  • A high school diploma and at least five years of professional experience in facility maintenance, with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Experience with building repairs and maintenance, including any relevant certifications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A degree in facilities maintenance, facilities management, engineering, business administration, or a related field.
  • Certifications such as Certified Facility Manager (CFM) or Facility Management Professional (FMP).
