Job Summary

N Street Village is seeking an experienced clinical professional to serve as an Assistant Clinical Director of Behavioral Health Services. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a deep commitment to empowering marginalized populations. As a key member of the clinical team, the Assistant Clinical Director will play a crucial role in overseeing clinical operations, supporting staff development, and driving program implementation to ensure the delivery of high-quality, trauma-informed care tailored to the unique needs of homeless and low-income women.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the clinical supervision of a multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals, including social workers, counselors, case managers, peer-recovery support specialists, and interns.
  • Provide guidance on best clinical practices, trauma-informed care, and treatment planning.
  • Address complex clinical cases by providing guidance on diagnosis, treatment planning, and intervention strategies.
Program Development and Enhancement
  • Collaborate with the Clinical Director to assess and identify gaps in existing behavioral health programs.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of new programs to address mental health, substance use recovery, and crisis stabilization.
  • Ensure programs align with the organization's mission and the evolving needs of the community.
  • Incorporate client feedback and best practices to continuously improve service offerings.
Staff Training and Professional Development
  • Develop and deliver ongoing training sessions on various topics, including trauma-informed care, client-centered care, crisis management, and ethical clinical practice.
  • Provide individualized feedback and guidance to help staff refine their clinical skills and competencies.
  • Identify professional development opportunities for staff, including workshops, certifications, and conferences.
  • Ensure staff remain up-to-date with current research, policies, and evidence-based practices in behavioral health.
Client Assessment and Treatment Planning
  • Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments to identify clients' mental health, substance use, trauma history, self-sufficiency, and social support needs.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans that incorporate clients' goals, strengths, and preferences.
  • Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary to ensure continuous, client-centered care.
  • Engage clients in shared decision-making regarding their treatment options and goals.
  • Maintain a caseload of 10 to 15 clients.
Crisis Intervention and Risk Management
  • Conduct suicide risk assessments and create safety plans in collaboration with clients.
  • Train staff on de-escalation techniques and strategies for managing high-risk situations.
  • Coordinate with external emergency services when necessary to ensure client safety.
  • Participate in Complex Case Coordination Team Meetings to address the needs of high-risk/high-profile clients.
  • Respond to crises and provide immediate support during psychiatric emergencies and substance use crises.
  • Serve as 24/7 on-call crisis support to assist staff in navigating crisis situations after-hours.
Quality Assurance and Compliance
  • Ensure all clinical documentation meets industry and regulatory standards, including HIPAA compliance and DAP notetaking format.
  • Perform regular audits of client records in the EHR system, HMIS, and HTH to ensure documentation is accurate, timely, and clinically sound.
  • Research and implement evidence-based practices to improve the quality of mental health and substance use services.
  • Stay informed of changes in local, state, and federal regulations affecting behavioral health services.
Collaboration and Partnership Building
  • Build and maintain relationships with external community partners, including hospitals, shelters, and addiction recovery centers.
  • Collaborate with internal departments/programs to provide holistic care for clients.
  • Facilitate interdepartmental meetings to ensure integrated service delivery and client support.
  • Represent N Street Village at external meetings, advocating for the needs of the women served.
Data Monitoring and Outcome Reporting
  • Assist in tracking and analyzing data on client outcomes, satisfaction, and service utilization.
  • Use data-driven insights to identify areas for program improvement and strategic planning.
  • Collaborate with the Clinical Director to prepare reports for internal leadership and external stakeholders on program performance.
  • Conduct client satisfaction surveys to gather feedback and inform program enhancements.
Advocacy and Client Empowerment
  • Advocate for policies and resources that support homeless women with mental health and substance use challenges.
  • Participate in local and national advocacy efforts to increase funding and awareness of behavioral health services.
  • Promote client empowerment by facilitating opportunities for clients to participate in their own care planning.
  • Ensure services are delivered in a manner that respects client autonomy, dignity, and cultural preferences.
Key Agency Responsibilities
  • Models and reinforces the mission, vision, and values of the Village.
  • Actively participates in performance improvement and advocacy activities that support the mission.
  • Protects clients' personal health information by maintaining compliance with HIPAA and other relevant health care-related IT security regulations.
  • Performs other duties on an as-needed basis.
Knowledge, Experience, and Skills
  • Master's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related field.
  • Licensure: Must be licensed in the District of Columbia (e.g. LICSW, LGSW, LGPC, LPC, LMFT).
Experience
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in providing clinical supervision.
  • Strong assessment, diagnostic, and clinical skills.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working with individuals experiencing severe mental illness, trauma, substance use, and comorbid disorders.
  • Familiarity with community resources and facilities serving individuals with mental, physical, or social needs in the District of Columbia is a plus.
Skills
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of DSM-5-TR for accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Proficiency in providing culturally sensitive, client-centered, and trauma-informed care to a diverse population.
  • Ability to assess, diagnose, and treat a wide range of mental health conditions, including those commonly found in homeless populations.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills to effectively interact with clients, staff, and community partners.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including empathy, compassion, and the ability to build rapport with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
