Position Overview

The Radiation Therapist plays a crucial role in the field of Radiation Oncology, providing essential therapeutic radiation to patients across various age groups, including pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.

Sign-on Bonus: $10,000 available for qualified candidates.

Employment Type: Full Time, 80 Hours Per Pay Period, Day Shift.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately position patients for treatment using prescribed devices.
  • Administer prescribed radiation doses to targeted body areas utilizing established equipment and protocols.
  • Conduct regular checks on radiation therapy equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Prepare and assemble necessary treatment devices, including immobilization and protection equipment.
  • Thoroughly review patient prescriptions, diagnoses, and identification to ensure accuracy.
  • Provide education and reassurance to patients and their families, addressing inquiries and reinforcing physician guidance regarding treatment and post-treatment care.
  • Input patient data into computer systems and adjust equipment settings as needed.
  • Monitor patients during and after treatment, reporting any unusual reactions to the physician.
  • Adhere to radiation protection principles for the safety of patients, self, and others.
  • Maintain precise records of radiation dosages, treatment schedules, and patient reactions in both physical and electronic formats.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently, effectively prioritizing tasks and adapting to varying workloads.
  • Manage treatment schedules and communicate any changes or delays to patients promptly.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and address patient satisfaction concerns.
  • Provide training and supervision to new or student radiation therapists.
  • Follow established infection control and universal precaution protocols.
  • Communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats to ensure clear information exchange.
  • Adhere to all policies, procedures, and safety standards, completing required educational assignments annually and participating in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum Education: No specific educational requirements; however, candidates must meet the standards for licensure and certification as mandated by the relevant authorities.

Minimum Experience: Entry Level.

Licensure Requirement: Candidates must obtain and maintain ARRT (T) certification within six months of completing their graduate program. CPR certification is also required.
