Overview:
The primary function of this role is to manage the processing and verification of credit applications, oversee the New Account setup process, and maintain records for closed accounts, third-party collections, and bankruptcies. This position is also responsible for managing high-profile accounts receivable, ensuring timely payments and resolution of any discrepancies.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct thorough research and evaluation of credit risks, analyzing credit histories to recommend appropriate credit limits.
2. Facilitate the establishment of new accounts and maintain existing account records.
3. Reconcile account balances, identify errors, and resolve issues related to unpaid invoices, short payments, or deductions.
4. Generate credit reports and provide recommendations to management regarding credit extensions.
5. Oversee the processes related to closed accounts.
6. Identify and monitor potential credit risks.
7. Assist in the management of unclaimed property and handle delinquency issues, removals, and non-sufficient funds (NSF) cases.
8. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- An Associate's Degree in Accounting or Business is preferred.
- A minimum of three years of experience in Credit and Collections is required.
- Basic knowledge of payment terms and credit laws is essential.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly advanced Excel skills, is a plus.
- Familiarity with automated accounting systems and experience with SAP or similar ERP software is advantageous.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Frequent hand movements for phone and computer tasks.
- Occasional lifting of up to 15 pounds and overhead reaching.
- Short periods of standing and walking may be required.
- Extended periods of sitting at a desk or workstation.
- Minimal squatting or bending may be necessary.
- Occasional stair climbing.
