This internship is designed to provide a unique opportunity for a student to gain hands-on experience in commercial business skills and accounts receivable.

Position Summary

This internship offers a chance for a student to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and develop commercial business skills. The intern will have the opportunity to participate in various projects, including reviewing projects for liens or bailment agreements, reviewing contracts for terms and conditions of the commercial relationship, and interacting with finance, sales, legal, customer service, and operations personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Review projects for liens or bailment agreements and identify potential issues.
  • Review contracts for terms and conditions of the commercial relationship and ensure compliance.
  • Interact with finance, sales, legal, customer service, and operations personnel to resolve customer relationship issues.
  • Participate in process development for lien application and ensure efficient workflow.
  • Complete Surety Bond requests and ensure timely submission.
  • Review open accounts for collection efforts and identify potential issues.
  • Make outbound collection calls in a professional manner and maintain customer relations.
  • Resolve billing issues and provide excellent customer service.
  • Identify issues attributing to account delinquency and discuss them with management.
  • Contact other departments and/or outside agencies to resolve routine accounting problems and research vendor discrepancies.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Working towards a BS/BS degree in accounting or a related field.
  • Enrolled in a 4-year program with a business, finance, economic, or legal focus.
  • Programming skills, such as SQL or other languages, are a plus.

Other Qualifications

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good critical thinking skills and ability to prioritize.
  • Willingness to work with a team and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Internet applications.
  • Legally permitted to work in the United States.
  • Able and willing to work alternative schedules as needed.
