POSITION SUMMARY
The Sound Production Specialist is a skilled audio engineer proficient in both audio recording and the final mixing of audio projects.

This role provides essential audio support throughout the phases of pre-production, execution, and post-production for various content types, including digital video, social media, advertisements, live events, and audio-only demonstrations.

The ideal candidate should be adept in diverse recording and mixing settings, ranging from renowned recording studios to the home studios of both emerging and established artists, as well as factory environments of iconic equipment manufacturers and various music venues.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Collaborates with Creative Content, Talent, Events, and Production teams to create a wide array of audio products, including product demonstrations, instructional videos, artist features, commercials, television broadcasts, radio segments, digital audio streaming, in-store audio promotions, video content, live streams, podcasts, and audio-only demos.

Assists in planning and executing assigned studio and field productions; coordinates pre-production and production planning activities.

  • Participates in project initiation, pre-production meetings, and location scouting.
  • Reviews and/or develops input lists and stage plots.
  • Identifies audio capture requirements, including microphones and monitoring setups.
  • Provides proof-of-concept rough mixes or pre-shoot music selections.
  • Sources necessary equipment, including microphones, monitors, and recording devices.
  • Engages freelance audio professionals as required.
  • Transports and sets up audio equipment for field recordings, events, or on-site video shoots.
  • During productions, sets up microphones and monitors, and adjusts audio equipment as needed.
  • Conducts line checks and sound checks during shoots.

Handles audio post-production tasks, which include sending audio for transcription, logging recordings, reviewing audio tracks, collaborating with producers for editorial decisions, and creating rough and final mixes using Pro Tools and other industry-standard software. Prepares audio deliverables that align with the overall production vision and coordinates with internal and external teams as necessary.

Maintains the playlist for in-store audio and produces in-store advertisements.

Provides troubleshooting for audio equipment and performs routine maintenance.

Stays informed about current production best practices and advancements in technology, including recording software, plug-ins, interfaces, pre-amps, mixers, and microphones.

Recommends software and equipment purchases to the department.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Proficient in multiple Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) including Pro Tools, Logic Pro, and Ableton Live.
  • Comfortable with various audio interfaces.
  • Expertise in Izotope RX Suite and noise reduction tools.
  • Skilled in miking and recording a range of musical and professional audio products.
  • Ability to identify and resolve common audio issues on set.
  • Experience collaborating closely with video production teams, particularly in editing.
  • Adept at providing mixes suitable for playback across various platforms and devices.
  • Experience in Tech/Live Sound FOH is a plus.
  • Capable of following creative direction while considering talent needs, equipment being demonstrated, and location for optimal audio capture.
  • Flexible and adaptable, with a solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Strong collaborative skills and a passion for music.
  • Detail-oriented with a critical approach.
  • Genuine interest in musical equipment and a commitment to educating and inspiring musicians.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary.

COMPENSATION:
Salary range is $60,000-$70,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.
