4-H Youth Engagement Leader

Position Overview:
The 4-H Youth Engagement Leader plays a crucial role in guiding the development, execution, and assessment of a comprehensive educational initiative focused on 4-H Youth Development. This role encompasses key areas such as education foundations, pedagogical strategies, and research aligned with the National and New York State 4-H Mission Mandates, which include STEM & Agriculture, Civic Engagement, and Healthy Living.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and direction for the entire 4-H Program, including oversight of 4-H Camp Shankitunk.
- Collaborate as an integral member of the Association program management team to foster a cohesive educational strategy.
- Manage and supervise staff and financial resources within the 4-H Program, ensuring compliance with accountability and affirmative action standards.
- Act as a representative of the Association to the public, community leaders, and governmental entities, promoting program initiatives and leadership.
Required Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in a relevant educational field.
- A minimum of 2 years of leadership experience in Cooperative Extension or a similar professional setting.
- Experience in STEM, leadership, education, youth development, and program management.
- Proven ability to supervise and mentor youth, staff, and volunteers.
- Strong resource management skills.
- Effective team collaboration and communication abilities.
- Capacity to engage with diverse populations and backgrounds.
- Proficiency in various communication methods, including digital platforms.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Physical capability to transport materials and meet travel requirements.
- Flexibility to work outside standard hours when necessary.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and internet applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in designing and evaluating informal educational programs.
- Knowledge of youth development principles and local community needs.
- Awareness of statewide and national initiatives related to 4-H program areas.
- Ability to effectively engage consultants and committees in program development.
- Demonstrated use of diverse program delivery methods.
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Oversee the management of 4-H Camp Shankitunk facilities and related projects.
- Provide administrative support to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
- Lead strategic planning for educational program delivery and budget management.
- Coordinate volunteer enrollment and ensure compliance with established policies.
Professional Development:
- Engage in ongoing professional growth to enhance competencies related to position responsibilities.
- Participate in required training and development opportunities.
