Overview:

The Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University invites applications and nominations for our next Senior Associate Dean for Education (SADE). This leadership role is an exciting opportunity to develop and nurture the next generation of humanistic physicians by leading and shaping an innovative educational curriculum that meets the evolving needs of healthcare delivery.

The SADE reports to the Dean of QU Netter and is responsible for oversight of all medical education programs, inclusive of undergraduate medical education (UME) and graduate medical education programs (GME). The SADE directly oversees a leadership team comprised of: Assistant Deans for Foundational Science Curriculum, Clinical Curriculum, Simulation, Graduate Medical Education and Designated Institutional Official (DIO); and a Senior Director of Accreditation, Measurement, & Educational Scholarship. These leaders along with the SADE collaborate to create a learning environment focused on academic excellence, professionalism, inclusion, and teamwork that fosters successful outcomes for our learners along the UME-GME continuum.

The Senior Associate Dean for Education will provide the vision for QU Netter’s educational strategic initiatives. The SADE works with leaders across the school to continually improve the quality of all medical education programs while ensuring compliance with accreditation standards. Working directly with the Dean and other members of the senior leadership team, the Senior Associate Dean for Education plays a critical role overseeing and executing the school’s strategic activities.

This unique role will afford the chosen candidate the opportunity to shape the educational mission in our second decade at QU Netter while also educating students and preparing them for the future of medicine. In furtherance of our strategic plan’s goals of advancing equity, we are particularly interested in inspiring leaders with a demonstrated track record in this area, especially those with diverse backgrounds and those from under-represented groups.

  • Administrative Leadership: Providing visionary leadership for the medical education enterprise, collaborating with education leaders to set strategic priorities, foster a culture of excellence, and ensures the overall success of the medical education mission.
  • Curriculum Development: Leading the development, implementation, and evaluation of medical education curricula to ensure they meet accreditation standards, align with institutional goals, and incorporate best practices in medical education.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Overseeing systems for assessing student performance, faculty, and program effectiveness, using data-driven insights to make informed decisions about educational initiatives.
  • Interprofessional Education (IPE): Collaborating with other health professions schools and departments at Quinnipiac to integrate interprofessional education opportunities into the curriculum, preparing students for collaborative practice in healthcare teams.
  • Community Engagement: Developing partnerships with healthcare institutions, community organizations, and other interested parties to provide clinical training opportunities, promote community health initiatives, and enhance the relevance of medical education to real-world healthcare needs.
  • Research and Scholarship: Supporting and promoting educational research and scholarship among faculty members and students, fostering a culture of inquiry and innovation in medical education.
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Partnering with the Office of Equity, Inclusion and Diversity support initiatives such as the recruitment and retention of diverse faculty. Ensure the medical education curriculum meets accreditation related to this domain and is effectively integrated into the medical education curriculum.
  • Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) and Accreditation Compliance: Ensuring that educational programs are continuously evaluated and meet the accreditation standards set by relevant accrediting bodies, such as the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) and the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
  • Faculty Development: Providing support and resources for faculty members to enhance their teaching skills, stay abreast of advancements in medical education, and foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Budget and Resource Management: Manage financial resources and strategically allocating funds for the medical education programs, as well as seeking external funding opportunities to support educational initiatives.
Education Requirements:
  • Candidates should hold a Medical Degree or equivalent.
Qualifications:Demonstrated experience and expertise in undergraduate and/or postgraduate education, including curriculum development and student evaluation.Previous administrative experience in a medical school setting.Experience with the development, management, and monitoring of medical education programs.Curriculum leadership experience as a course, clerkship, or program leader.10+ years of direct teaching experience of medical students.Knowledge of accreditation standards and guidelines for undergraduate and graduate medical education.Familiarity with all phases of the MD curriculum.Contributions to medical education scholarship, continuing professional development and academic advancement.Experience navigating multisite/partner training sites medical education programsExperience building new training sites.Educational outreach initiatives.Experience using data and metrics to enhance performance.Ability to effectively mentor individuals, including both faculty members and students.Excellent communication, leadership, interpersonal skills and collaborative, inclusive and team approach.Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively.Approachable, inclusive and transparent leadership style.Outstanding relationship-building skills.Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusiveness and ability to work with varied groups of educators and stakeholders.Special Instructions to Applicants:
