Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain brief medical histories and chief complaints from patients, maintaining accurate records and ensuring seamless communication with healthcare teams.
  • Assist with office procedures, including setup and preparation, to ensure a smooth and efficient patient experience.
  • Perform a range of technical procedures, including autorefraction, refraction, visual field testing, and more, using specialized equipment and adhering to established protocols.
  • Support physicians during patient exams, providing scribing and administrative assistance as needed.
  • Schedule surgeries, follow-up appointments, and referrals, ensuring timely and accurate communication with patients and healthcare teams.
  • Process prescriptions and glasses orders, maintaining accurate records and adhering to established protocols.
  • Monitor and maintain stock of supplies and equipment, ensuring optimal functionality and minimizing downtime.
  • Provide education and training to patients and families, promoting health literacy and empowering individuals to take control of their care.
Requirements
  • Completion of an Ophthalmology Certification Program or equivalent experience (3 years of Ophthalmology experience will substitute for program completion)
  • CERT OPHTHALMOLOGY ASSISTANT - C073 certification
Work Environment

This is a non-management role that will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive. The work shift is Day (United States of America), and the location is GHS Eye Institute, 2249 Ophthalmology, Department of Ophthalmology-Practice Operations.
