Job Title: Construction Superintendent

Methuen Construction is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to join our water/wastewater treatment facility construction team.

Job Summary

The Construction Superintendent is responsible for leading, managing, and monitoring the successful execution of projects on time, within budget, and safely with oversight of foremen, trades, and subcontractors on water/wastewater, federal, or other heavy industrial facility construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project planning and scheduling, including labor needs and resource allocation
  • Motivating and mentoring teammates to ensure a positive work environment and high-quality results
  • Supervising foremen, trade crews, and subcontractors to ensure project execution meets quality, safety, and timeline standards
  • Collaborating with project managers, engineers, and foremen to facilitate and coordinate construction project plans, ensuring timely submission of preconstruction and construction submittals and documentation to clients
  • Participating in turnover meetings to understand project approaches and identify areas for improvement
  • Implementing a Rapid Deployment Program to enhance project efficiency and effectiveness
  • Identifying and mitigating safety risks, developing safety plans, and ensuring safe execution of work
  • Developing project schedules and coordinating with project teams to ensure timely completion
  • Coordinating with project teams to ensure timely agreement with subcontractors and vendors
  • Interpreting contract drawings, specifications, and submittals to ensure project compliance
  • Establishing, maintaining, and tracking project budgets and ensuring adherence to financial targets
  • Ensuring proper documentation and record-keeping for project-related activities
  • Monitoring and tracking the timely fabrication and delivery of products and equipment
  • Maintaining accurate records, notes, and sketches to describe and verify planned and completed work
  • Researching and recommending solutions to drawing interpretation problems, conflicts, interferences, safety, budget, schedule, technical conflicts, quality control issues, and client satisfaction
  • Encouraging and monitoring actions of self and team to ensure a positive image on behalf of Methuen Construction
  • Performing other duties as assigned by management
Requirements
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Strong commitment to safety, team environment, customer satisfaction, and quality control
  • Prompt and accurate judgment with the ability to troubleshoot and solve problems as they arise
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Proven ability to excel in a fast-paced environment
Supervisory Responsibility

This position is responsible for the oversight of teammates.

Position Type

This is a salary, exempt position.

Travel

Primarily limited to Northeast job site locations.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred
  • Five years of experience as a Superintendent on similar projects, preferred
  • Experience with project planning and scheduling, contracts, and project controls and procedures preferred
  • Experience and/or background in Civil Engineering disciplines, water, wastewater, and heavy industrial process systems highly preferred
  • Intermediate use of entire Microsoft Office Suite required
Work Environment/Physical Demands
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50-60lbs
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time, and safely maneuver around the nearby presence of various construction equipment and vehicles, on an active construction site
  • Prepared to regularly encounter moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, and a variety of outside weather conditions
  • Able to climb temporary or permanent stairs, and ladders
  • Able to bend, squat, kneel, crawl, crouch, balance, and stoop, reach on a regular basis
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
