The Operating Room Charge Nurse plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our surgical services. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for organizing and planning patient care, directing and coordinating the activities of nursing staff, and providing high-quality individualized care to our patients.
Responsibilities- Organize and plan patient care, ensuring that all necessary preparations are made for surgical procedures
- Direct and coordinate the activities of nursing staff, providing guidance and support as needed
- Provide high-quality individualized care to patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care
- Develop and implement systems for evaluating clinical competency of nursing staff
- Consult with nursing staff on complex issues and provide guidance on policy and procedure
- Provide continuing education and mentoring to nursing staff
- Participate in performance improvement activities and seek ways to improve processes and meet customer satisfaction
- Current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of California
- BLS and ACLS certification
- Completion of yearly supplemental competence validation
- Preceptor class
- Management class
- 10 CEU's in perioperative nursing, 5 CEU's in leadership/management
- Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
- Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures, and forms
- CNOR certification
- Able to scrub on all surgeries
- Three years' experience as a perioperative nurse, one as a charge nurse
