Perioperative Nurse Manager

The Operating Room Charge Nurse is a key member of the surgical services team at the University of California, Irvine. This role is responsible for organizing, planning, directing, and coordinating high-quality patient care in the operating room. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills, as well as proficiency in performing daily work duties to meet department expectations.
Responsibilities- Oversee the development and implementation of systems for evaluating clinical competency of nursing staff
- Help develop and update standards and policies for nursing practice
- Provide continuing education for existing staff and mentor new staff members
- Participate in performance improvement activities to enhance patient satisfaction and quality of care
- Current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of California
- BLS and ACLS certification
- Completion of yearly supplemental competence validation
- Preceptor class and management class
- 10 CEUs in perioperative nursing and 5 CEUs in leadership/management
- Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures, and forms
- CNOR certification
- Able to scrub on all surgeries
- Three years of experience as a perioperative nurse, one as a charge nurse
