The role of the Pastry Production Specialist is essential in supporting the Kitchen Manager, ensuring that all culinary production requirements are met efficiently. This individual should possess a genuine enthusiasm for the culinary and pastry arts, thriving in a hands-on environment where they can craft exquisite made-from-scratch desserts. Daily responsibilities include creating a variety of confections such as ice cream, sorbet, praline, fruit compotes, syrups, pastries, marshmallows, meringues, and various sauces.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in ordering and managing inventory, ensuring minimal waste.
- Participate in production scheduling and guide kitchen staff towards achieving defined goals.
- Maintain the highest standards of product quality, cleanliness, and sanitation in the production area.
- Exhibit exceptional organizational skills and execute tasks with precision in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Serve as a role model for kitchen staff, demonstrating a strong work ethic and professionalism.
The Pastry Production Specialist will be trained to operate essential kitchen equipment, including the Emery Thompson Batch Ice Cream Freezer and Pasteurizer. Successful candidates will need to obtain a pasteurization license from the relevant authorities once hired.
Qualifications:
- Ability to obtain a pasteurization license upon hiring.
- Strong interest and passion for culinary arts.
- Proven kitchen skills, both fundamental and technical.
- Availability to work 30+ hours weekly.
- Flexibility in scheduling, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Physical capability to lift 50lbs repeatedly.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen environment.
- Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback professionally.
- Management experience in food service is advantageous.
- Reliable transportation is required.
