Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Robotics Software Engineer to join our team at Booz Allen Hamilton. As a key member of our Uncrewed Systems Software Development team, you will be responsible for designing, building, testing, and demonstrating new robotic capabilities that address complex client problems in sensing, autonomy, and human interaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct robotics engineering software development, including implementing software and control schemes, integrating or troubleshooting payloads such as actuators or sensors, and testing proper function and operation.
  • Develop and maintain software and control systems that integrate with mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Work at the intersection of software and hardware to design, build, test, and demonstrate new robotic capabilities.
  • Apply advanced consulting and extensive technical expertise and full industry knowledge to develop innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • Support the research and development of robotic and unmanned systems across multiple operational domains and mission areas.
Requirements
  • Experience conducting robotics engineering software development, including implementing software and control schemes, integrating or troubleshooting payloads such as actuators or sensors, and testing proper function and operation.
  • Experience with common robotics programming languages such as Python or C++.
  • Experience with open-source robotics frameworks such as ROS, PyRobot, or Orca.
  • Knowledge of design, development, implementation, evaluation, and support functions of uncrewed and autonomous vehicles.
  • Ability to develop, and maintain software and control systems that integrate with mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in ME, EE, CS, Robotics Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field preferred; Master's degree in ME, EE, CS, Robotics Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience conducting detailed design of production of uncrewed underwater vehicles based on performance requirements.
  • Experience using design, modeling, and simulation tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, SolidWorks, or MagicDraw.
  • Ability to derive and populate a state space model of vehicle dynamics, pose, and forces.
  • Ability to manage coordinate reference frame transformations and translations, including Body to NED.
