Lead Maintenance Engineer

Reports To: General Manager
Supervises: Maintenance Team Members
Position Objective: To oversee and direct maintenance activities, including refrigeration, heating, plumbing, and more, ensuring the hotel’s physical infrastructure meets the highest standards for guest satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and enhance ongoing maintenance functions for the hotel, covering areas such as refrigeration, heating, plumbing, water treatment, preventive maintenance, guest rooms, air handling units, ice machines, swimming pools, lighting systems, kitchen appliances, emergency generators, and electrical systems.
- Ensure timely project completion by analyzing work schedules and estimating labor requirements. Adjust work processes as necessary to align with production timelines.
- Collaborate closely with the Housekeeping and Front Desk teams to synchronize operations. May liaise with other department supervisors to ensure cohesive workflow.
- Guide and assist maintenance staff in scheduling tasks, procuring materials, and meeting deadlines. May also estimate, requisition, and inspect necessary supplies.
- Engage with architects to review blueprints, solicit bids from contractors for new projects, and consult with construction supervisors on various work phases.
- Operate within departmental budgetary constraints.
- Identify and resolve operational challenges, providing support to staff in problem-solving. Propose initiatives to motivate team members and recommend personnel actions, including training, promotions, and disciplinary measures.
- Interpret specifications, job orders, and company policies for staff while enforcing safety protocols.
- Adjust work methods to meet production goals and suggest improvements to enhance efficiency.
- May be responsible for setting up machinery and equipment.

Required Skills:
- Ability to address practical issues and navigate diverse variables in situations with limited standardization. Capable of interpreting various forms of instructions.
- Proficient in reading and understanding safety protocols and instructions. Capable of writing reports with proper formatting and grammar, and communicating effectively.
- Understanding of the technologies relevant to the maintenance work being supervised.
Qualifications:
- Completion of a vocational program and apprenticeship in plumbing or electrical repair.
Experience:
- A minimum of 2 years in a supervisory role within maintenance and 3 years in plumbing, electrical, or painting trades; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
