About the Role

WWF-US is seeking a seasoned professional to lead its US-Arctic conservation efforts. As the Managing Director, you will be responsible for developing and implementing conservation strategies, managing a team of experts, and collaborating with stakeholders to achieve impactful results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute conservation priorities, including area-based conservation management and climate science integration.
  • Lead a team of 3-6 staff, setting clear goals and priorities, and ensuring effective teamwork and individual accountability.
  • Manage budgets and fundraising strategies to support Arctic conservation programs.
  • Design and implement WWF-Arctic conservation programs, integrating traditional ecological knowledge and science.
  • Partner with colleagues to evaluate conservation finance opportunities and support team members in responding to major threats to Arctic biodiversity.
  • Maintain close ties with the WWF Global Arctic Program and represent WWF-US Arctic externally to strengthen relationships.
Requirements
  • Master's degree or equivalent experience and ten years of work experience, including three years in wildlife conservation.
  • Three years of management experience, with a proven track record of delivering results through large-scale programs.
  • Extensive experience working in Alaska and a demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills, written and oral communication skills, and the ability to travel for about 7-10 trips per year.
