Position Overview
As a Lead Quality Assurance Engineer/Scientist, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the mission of the Field Office by overseeing all aspects of weapon quality assurance activities.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist in managing the Field Office's objectives by ensuring effective oversight of weapon quality assurance processes.
2. Identify and recommend necessary policy adjustments to enhance the development of guidelines and standards.
3. Assess the performance of team members, conduct interviews for new positions, and make recommendations regarding appointments, promotions, or reassignments.
4. Plan and coordinate the formulation, interpretation, and execution of policies and procedures related to contractor missions within KCFO programs.
5. Evaluate contractor performance in fulfilling assigned responsibilities related to weapon quality assurance activities, establishing performance metrics and criteria for evaluation.
6. Serve as a liaison to other Field Offices, NNSA Headquarters, DOE Headquarters, and external entities on matters concerning weapon quality assurance.
7. Monitor and assess weapon quality assurance activities, providing substantive recommendations for program enhancements.
8. Offer expert guidance and technical support to management and supervisory staff across various domains.
Requirements:
1. Must pass a pre-employment drug test and be subject to random drug testing.
2. Favorable suitability determination is required.
3. Financial disclosure is mandatory.
4. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Q level Security Clearance.
5. U.S. Citizenship is required.
6. Participation in the e-Verify program is mandatory.
7. Compliance with Homeland Security Presidential Directive (HSPD-12) is necessary, requiring two forms of identification.
8. A two-year trial period may be necessary.
Qualifications:
To qualify, candidates must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower NNSA pay band level or GS grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience includes:
1. Oversight and leadership in highly technical scientific, engineering, and professional work, particularly in weapon quality assurance functions.
2. Experience in managing quality assurance activities, including conducting audits, self-assessments, and developing long-term program plans.
3. Providing expert support to senior management regarding quality assurance programs.
Education:
This position requires a positive education requirement. Candidates must meet the educational qualifications for either the General Engineer or Physical Scientist series. Unofficial transcripts must be provided to support educational claims. Education must be obtained from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
