Job Overview

Kiewit Nuclear Solutions is seeking an experienced Assistant Project Engineer to join our Engineering and Operations Team. This role is focused on carbon-free technologies such as Small Modular Reactors.

The ideal candidate will have a strong aptitude for practical engineering, a willingness to learn the business, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Strong leadership skills and a willingness to travel periodically are also essential.

Responsibilities
  • Perform integrated engineering processes to fulfill project requirements and achieve target dates.
  • Author and review designs, specifications, analyses, and drawings in compliance with engineering principles and applicable standards.
  • Prepare and review design concept drawings for equipment using input from various technical disciplines.
  • Recognize, define, and resolve problems within assigned areas.
  • Develop a complete understanding of contract plans and specifications.
  • Examine and inspect field conditions, identify problems, inaccuracies, and cost-saving measures, and take corrective actions as needed.
  • Inspect subordinates' work for compliance with contract plans and specifications, point out deficiencies, and explain and take any corrective action needed.
  • Develop and maintain the project master schedule using appropriate techniques and scheduling software with input from other project management personnel.
  • Manage document control, receive and log in new issue drawings and other contract documents, and maintain document control logs.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited, four-year university.
  • Undergraduate degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 3-5+ years' work experience in construction or engineering.
  • Knowledge, application, and understanding of ASME Codes is desired.
  • Excellent attention to detail and capability for producing error-free documents.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of engineering design practices and principles.
  • Experience working with engineers and fabricators to develop designs and drawings.
  • Experience in the preparation of equipment sizing calculations, P&ID, PFD, and General Arrangement drawings for skid-mounted or permanent equipment packages.
