Position Overview:

This role is situated within the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), specifically in the Los Angeles Field Division.

Primary Responsibilities:
The main objective of this position is to provide assistance to the Outlying Office (OO) concerning business operations and the administrative facets of law enforcement activities.

Qualifications:
Applicants must satisfy the necessary qualification criteria outlined below by the closing date of the announcement.

For those applying for the GS-09 level, you must meet one of the following conditions:

  • Possess at least one full year of specialized experience that is at least equivalent to work performed at the GS-07 grade level.

Specialized Experience:
This includes both paid and unpaid experience, encompassing volunteer work completed through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social).

Volunteer work contributes to the development of essential competencies, knowledge, and skills, providing valuable training and experience that can directly translate to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

GS-09 Qualification Criteria:
To qualify at the GS-09 level, you must have one year of experience (equivalent to at least the GS-07 level or pay band in the Federal service) that includes:

  • Providing administrative and operational support functions in relation to activities involving administrative duties, human resource liaison, personal property management, and personnel or physical security;
  • Conducting intricate and unique law enforcement searches and inquiries;
  • Gathering and analyzing data to identify discrepancies;
  • Preparing various administrative documents such as reports, briefings, and correspondence;
  • Offering authoritative guidance to an organization on administrative matters.

Educational Background:
Applicants may also qualify through education, possessing a Master's degree or equivalent graduate degree, or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if relevant.

Combination of Education and Experience:
A combination of education and experience may be utilized to qualify for this position, provided that the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18.
