VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION COUNSELOR

Position Overview:
As a key member of the Vocational Rehabilitation Department, this role is dedicated to delivering culturally appropriate counseling and assessment services tailored for Native American Indian clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Case Management: Oversee comprehensive rehabilitation plans by coordinating case management efforts, which include vocational counseling, guidance, and direct employer engagement for job training and placement.
  2. Eligibility Assessment: Evaluate applicants' qualifications for vocational rehabilitation services by analyzing their capabilities, resources, and concerns, while developing a personalized Individual Plan for Employment (IPE).
  3. Administrative Support: Provide clerical assistance by managing departmental documentation, tracking case load hours, and processing necessary paperwork for financial transactions.
  4. Customer Service: Serve as the initial point of contact by addressing inquiries, welcoming clients, and directing them appropriately within the department.
  5. Program Coordination: Facilitate meetings and training sessions, ensuring effective communication and collaboration with external partners and stakeholders.
  6. Inventory Management: Monitor and maintain supplies for the department, ensuring resources are adequately stocked and organized.
  7. Communication: Promote departmental initiatives by attending meetings, preparing minutes, and maintaining a professional image in all interactions.

Qualifications:
Essential:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Experience in Vocational Rehabilitation Case Management
- Valid California Driver's License

Desirable:
- Bachelor's Degree in Rehabilitation or a related field
- Familiarity with Data Ops Case Management Systems

Skills Required:
  • Ability to engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds and with various disabilities.
  • Competence in data collection and analysis related to client progress.
  • Understanding of job classifications and the skills required for various roles.
  • Knowledge of EEO/Affirmative Action regulations.
  • Familiarity with educational and counseling resources available on tribal reservations.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
