Role Overview

The Special Education Team Lead at MaineHealth plays a critical role in supporting students with complex needs. This role provides academic instruction and behavioral support in special purpose schools, while also mentoring and training other team members to enhance their skills and knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide academic instruction and behavioral support in special purpose schools
  • Mentor and support other team members to enhance their skills and knowledge
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to develop and implement educational plans

Requirements

  • Education: High School diploma or GED preferred
  • Certification as an Education Technician III from the Maine Department of Education required (minimum of 90 credits in approved study)
  • Two years of relevant experience working with children or youth with developmental disorders, mental health disorders, and/or challenging behaviors in a school, hospital, or residential setting preferred
