Job Overview

The Project Engineer plays a crucial role in supporting Project Managers in overseeing the construction of water and wastewater treatment facilities. At PKG Contracting, Project Engineers collaborate closely with Superintendents and field personnel to facilitate construction operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret engineering plans and specifications for water and wastewater treatment projects.
  • Assist in estimating quantities for concrete, structural steel, earthwork, process piping, and architectural components.
  • Support the negotiation and drafting of purchase orders and subcontracts.
  • Review project submittals and manage Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Coordinate with vendors to oversee project orders and deliveries.
  • Conduct field inspections and observations to ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Perform layout tasks for on-site construction activities.
  • Assist in the start-up and commissioning phases of treatment facilities.
  • Collaborate with the design engineering team to address unforeseen challenges.
  • Foster client relationships and contribute to business development.
  • Execute additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Construction Management.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the construction industry preferred.
  • Familiarity with collaborative delivery methods such as CMAR or Design-Build is advantageous.
  • Comprehensive understanding of construction principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and MSHA regulations is beneficial.

System Qualifications:

  • Experience with project management software, estimating tools, Bluebeam, and AutoCAD is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in various weather conditions.
  • Compliance with personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements in designated areas as mandated by OSHA or MSHA.
