Ambulatory Clinic Nurse

The ambulatory clinic nurse utilizes the nursing process to coordinate an interdisciplinary approach to patient care. The nurse is responsible for promoting and restoring patient's health by completing the nursing process, collaborating with physicians and team members, and providing physical and psychological support to patients and their families.
Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions- Greet patients and prepare them for examination or procedure.
- Record health history of patient and note abnormal conditions for physician.
- Obtain vital signs and perform required screens.
- Accurately and safely administer intramuscular, subcutaneous, and oral medication as ordered in accordance with nursing standards.
- Observe, record, and report patients condition and reaction to drugs and treatments to physicians.
- Assist with the preparation of supplies and equipment and aiding the physician or advance practice provider during treatment, examination and testing.
- Collect, document and deliver lab specimens; obtain lab results and other reports and enter EMR if needed.
- Notify patients of test results and follow-up appointments.
- Refer to RN/MD for patient care.
- Respond to and screen telephone calls for referral to RN or physician.
- Coordinate pre-visit planning by reviewing the EMR to include patient history and proactively order labs and other tests based on approved clinic protocols.
- Complete necessary forms (i.e. FMLA, DME, Home Health orders) and obtain physician signatures as required.
- Graduation from an accredited licensed practical nurse program.
- High School Graduate.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA).
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Multi-State - State Board of Nursing in the state (Kansas and/or Missouri) dependent upon work location.
